I. Major Functions of Bonded Areas

1.1 Export Tax Rebates

Cargo will be deemed to be exported and taxes can be refunded upon arrival at the bonded area.

 

1.2 Duty Free Function

The overseas cargo can be eligible for bonded policy upon arrival at the bonded area.

 

1.3 Bonded Function

VAT and consumption tax incurred when goods are transferred between bonded zones, export processing zones, free trade port areas, comprehensive bonded zones, and other special customs zones will be exempted.

 

II. Special Services

2.1 FTZ Day Trip Service 

Export and re-import business, commonly know as FTZ day trip service, utilizes the advantage of bonded area, that is, the goods will be deemed to be exported and taxes can be refunded upon arrival at the bonded area. Enterprises only need to import goods from the bonded area to complete the import and export procedures, which can greatly save transportation costs and time, and facilitate the complicated procedures of deep processing transit and solve the problems of non-refundable duties on the value-added part of deep-processing products.

 

2.2 International Transit

Bonded zone can serve as an international transit point, which means after entering the bonded area, the transit cargo and domestic cargo can be split, consolidated, and then exported to the destination countries.

 

2.3 Bonded Storage

The bonded warehouse is a secured facility that allows storage of dutiable imported cargo awaiting their journey to the destination country or clearance from customs to enter the domestic market without immediate duty payment.

 

2.4 Bonded Processing

After the goods enter the bonded area, enterprises are allowed to engage in simple processing, e.g. classifying, subpackaging, packaging, picking, labeling, and marking, etc. After that, the goods can be exported to the destination country or enter the domestic market as per customer’s requirements.
